Will Brantley joined Harris Shelton in 2022, bringing a detail-oriented and comprehensive approach to all legal matters. His practice areas include municipal law, general commercial litigation, land use, economic development, and environmental law. Additionally, he has represented clients in the appellate courts of Tennessee and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Will represents a diverse range of clients, including cities, towns, and school boards, throughout West Tennessee. His municipal law work involves defending municipalities in cases varying from constitutional and federal statutory claims to incidents involving city property and land use. He also engages in transactional work related to economic development, assisting cities and industrial development boards in leveraging financial tools like TIFs (Tax Increment Financing), PILOTs (Payments in Lieu of Taxes), and CPACE (Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy) to spur redevelopment and foster growth.

In addition to his appellate litigation and municipal law practice, Will is developing an environmental law practice, working with industrial development boards on Brownfield projects and assisting with BRAG (Brownfield Redevelopment Area Grant) applications.

Will previously clerked for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, giving him an intimate understanding and insight to litigation at both levels of federal courts. Will graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was the president of its chapter of the Federalist Society, which, during his tenure, was awarded Chapter of the Year for the first time in the school’s history.

Outside of work, Will enjoys traveling to visit friends, live music, a good workout at the gym, and exploring new restaurants in Memphis.
